Conan deduces the arsonist is Ginya Makabe, who buried day-trading profits to evade taxes. After an argument with Kaito’s father, Ginya pushed him down stairs and burned the building, believing the victim dead. Subaru Okiya, the Red man, seeks Professor Agasa for apprenticeship, but Haibara opposes his stay due to Black Organization suspicions. Conan grants Subaru keys to Shinichi’s home. Ran and Sonoko clean the house, meeting Subaru. Impressed by his skills, Sonoko challenges Shinichi and Subaru to solve a case involving paper planes with strange symbols. Conan texts Ran his deduction that the planes signal an SOS at the same moment Subaru explains his identical theory.
