Kogoro receives a request from an investment company president to provide bodyguards. Accompanied by Conan, he discovers the firm operates a scam involving the fraudulent trading of rare goldfish. Victims publicly accuse the president, with some issuing death threats. The president blames the customers for their own greed, prompting Kogoro to refuse the job and attempt to leave. While waiting for a bus, the company is disturbed by a scream. Conan and Kogoro rush inside to find the president has been killed.
