A black blob formed by Lil' Slugger ruins Tokyo. Maniwa informs the police chief via screen, but Ikari destroys it, dons a uniform, and is celebrated. Tsukiko reverts to age twelve, calling Ikari dad, while Maromi becomes a real dog. Ikari recalls his wife's warning against escaping reality, then smashes the cartoon world with a bat. This reveals a ruined Tokyo filled with Maromi toys. Maniwa explains Lil' Slugger was Tsukiko's lie to cover Maromi's death by a car, caused by her cramps. She feared punishment from her father. The blob grows giant, forcing them into the subway where they sink. Tsukiko accepts her fault, stopping the blob. Two years later, Tokyo recovers. Tsukiko works as an office worker, Ikari remains a security guard, and Kawazu stays a reporter. Maniwa, with white hair, solves a street equation and gasps.
