Ep. 20: Shira confronts Meguro and Tanpopo, capturing Rin and challenging Manji to a lethal duel near a frozen lake.

Shira forces Meguro and Tanpopo to reveal Manji’s location before abducting Rin, tying her to a stone in a freezing lake. He challenges Manji to a duel, revealing he has reattached his severed forearm to gain immortality. Manji breaks off the fight to rescue Rin, but she sinks. Shira recovers from wounds inflicted by Anotsu and Magatsu, attacking Magatsu with blades. Tanpopo attempts to save Rin while Meguro fights Shira, only to be impaled by Magatsu. Manji re-engages Shira, and they mutilate each other. Shira realizes his wounds fail to heal because his bloodworms cannot repair his body as quickly as Manji’s. Magatsu helps Manji deliver the final blow. Shira is later torn apart by wild dogs while warning Renzo against vengeance.
