Orochimaru recalls his history with reanimation and the Sharingan before attempting to possess Sasuke’s body. The ritual fails as Sasuke reverses the jutsu and absorbs Orochimaru into himself. Kabuto later arrives to find Sasuke standing over Orochimaru’s snake corpse. Through the Sharingan, Kabuto witnesses the outcome of the failed possession. Having defeated Orochimaru, Sasuke leaves his hideout to forge his own path. This event occurs during the Itachi Pursuit Mission arc.
