While Kakashi Hatake recovers in a Konoha hospital, Sakura Haruno informs Tsunade that the late Akatsuki member Sasori revealed plans to meet a spy within Orochimaru's organization at the Tenchi Bridge in ten days. With four days already elapsed, Naruto Uzumaki determines he requires an additional partner and begins recruiting in Konoha. Team 8 declines to assist due to their own mission obligations. Although Choji eventually agrees to join Naruto, the pair are ambushed by Sai alongside Shikamaru. This segment serves as the first part of the Tenchi Bridge Reconnaissance Mission arc, comprising one of twenty-one installments.
