Kakashi initially hesitates to lead a new genin team until Hiruzen reveals Naruto is the son of his mentor Minato. Accompanying the Third Hokage, Kakashi visits the homes of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, meeting her parents Kizashi and Mebuki. Hiruzen explains his reasoning for forming teams based on the Sannin, leading Kakashi to accept his students. While waiting for their instructor after classmates join Asuma and Kurenai, Kakashi visits the Memorial Stone where Tenzo notes his senior's gradual change. At the academy, Kakashi acts like a slacker to evaluate teamwork before the next day's test, officially forming Team 7.
