Ep. 357: Itachi Uchiha joins the Anbu while Guy attempts to join and witnesses Kakashi's dark mission.
Current Anbu members test Itachi Uchiha upon his arrival. Guy petitions Hiruzen to join the Anbu to help Kakashi, but is rejected by Hiruzen and Danzo for lacking darkness. Fugaku reminds Itachi of his clan obligations, while Danzo tasks him with spying on the Uchiha. Danzo and Hiruzen orchestate a dual mission against the Hannya Black Ops. Guy, Kosuke, and two other ninja are sent to exchange scrolls, unaware that Kakashi and Itachi are assigned to assassinate. The Hannya are defeated, and Guy watches in horror as Kakashi and Itachi complete their lethal mission. Back in the village, Guy begs Hiruzen to remove Kakashi from Anbu duties due to his deteriorating mental state. Meanwhile, at the Naka Shrine, Itachi reports on village conditions to the Uchiha clan while Shisui observes. Itachi uses his Sharingan to read a stone monument behind his father.
