Piano prodigy Shinichi Chiaki nearly abandons his conducting aspirations due to severe aerophobia, which negatively impacts his performance. He is reassigned to teacher Hajime Tanioka, who pairs him with eccentric student Megumi Noda for a Mozart duet. Although Nodame struggles with sight-reading and maintains a messy lifestyle that forces Chiaki to clean her apartment, he discovers her unique ability to interpret music expressively. Her genuine passion for performance revitalizes Chiaki’s own love for music, encouraging him to pursue his career goals again. However, the arrangement becomes complicated when Nodame develops romantic feelings for him, creating tension in their musical partnership.
