Ep. 5: Chiaki Conducts the S Orchestra While Stresemann Demonstrates His Superiority
Aired on February 9, 2007

5
After Stresemann is incapacitated, Nodame persuades Chiaki to serve as the substitute conductor for the special orchestra. Chiaki accepts the role but quickly discovers that the ensemble is out of sync. As the rehearsal deteriorates, Stresemann intervenes to take control and demonstrates the techniques Chiaki failed to execute. Following this demonstration, Stresemann formally accepts Chiaki as his student. However, he advises Chiaki to continue his studies as a piano major rather than pursuing conducting. This sequence highlights the gap in Chiaki's skills and establishes a mentor-student dynamic under specific academic constraints.
