Ep. 26: Altena sacrifices herself in the volcano pit after Kirika and Mireille defeat her forces.
Borne informs Altena that Kirika and Mireille killed Chloe. Altena claims the Noir ritual can proceed because two saplings survived, then shoots Borne after being called a traitor. She leads the pair to a basement volcano pit, urging Mireille to kill her. Mireille refuses, stating Altena does not deserve death, but Altena shoots her and attempts to force Kirika to kill her. When Kirika also refuses, Altena aims at Mireille again. Remembering Odette Bouquet’s plea to protect Mireille, Kirika intercepts the shot and attacks Altena, causing them both to fall into the pit. Mireille finds Altena clinging to the ledge, holding Kirika. Altena lifts Kirika toward Mireille before dropping into the lava. As they leave the Manor past Breffort and his Soldats, the series concludes with a view of a broken watch and two gunshots from Mireille’s Walther P-99 and Kirika’s Beretta M1934.
