Ep. 69: Yamaoka serves stewed beef tendon to former rakugo student Kissho Senkichi at the office.
Yamaoka’s cooking of beef tendon annoys office staff until Kissho Senkichi arrives to claim a lost dog. Yamaoka recognizes Kissho as a former rakugo student who was rejected by Master Hassho due to his ego. Kissho had previously proposed to Hassho’s daughter Keiko and requested the name second generation Suekichi, but was refused. Yamaoka invites Kissho to perform for the Touzai staff, bringing Keiko and Mr. Black, another Hassho student. Despite a limited budget, Yamaoka prepares slow-cooked stewed beef tendon with sake, ginger, and soy sauce. The dish is well-received. During the performance, Yamaoka reveals Master Hassho is watching. After Kissho performs successfully, Hassho tastes the stew and agrees to name him second generation Suekichi, provided he remains humble.
