After learning Osamu and Nanako have kissed, Takeo considers timing his own kiss with Rinko, while Rinko seeks guidance from Makoto and Ai. On New Year's Day, which is Takeo's birthday, Rinko accompanies him to a shrine before visiting his home, where they are joined by many of his former friends. Eventually, they find a moment alone, and Rinko gathers the courage to kiss Takeo, but he fails to notice. It is only after a conversation with Makoto that Takeo realizes he has been kissed, prompting him to rush back to Rinko to reciprocate the gesture.
