Frustrated by Kirino’s annoyance over her lack of hobby knowledge, Ayase seeks Kyosuke’s advice on a gift to mend their relationship. After consulting Kuroneko and Saori, Kyosuke discovers a cosplay contest where the prize is a rare Meruru figurine. Although Ayase refuses to participate, the group convinces her model friend, Kanako Kurusu, to dress as Meruru instead. During the event, Kyosuke spots Kirino in the audience and must ensure Kanako does not see her. Kanako delivers a winning performance, securing the prize. Despite her initial disgust toward the otaku fans, she admits to enjoying the experience.
