After reading Kuroneko's online fanfiction, Kirino decides to write her own stories, leading to a dispute with her sister over literary preferences. Once she posts her novel, she receives a tentative publishing offer. Seeking inspiration for her next work, Kirino takes Kyosuke out on Christmas Eve. She manipulates him into buying earrings by claiming they provide emotional support. When Kyosuke accuses her of acting solely for self-gratification, Kirino pours cold water over her head to disprove him. They visit a hotel for her to shower and change. Later, seeing Kirino smile warmly while wearing the earrings, Kyosuke feels a renewed sense of closeness to his sister.
