Ash, his friends, and Team Rocket participate in auditions to secure a costarring role in a film featuring an all-Pokémon cast. During the process, Misty's Psyduck unexpectedly wins the part. This victory occurs because the other competitors cannot handle the behavior of the film's star, a prima donna Wigglytuff. The situation allows Psyduck to take the role simply due to the failure of the other candidates to manage the demanding star.
