During the journey to Mahora Island, the group's vessel navigates through dense fog where a familiar shape appears. They subsequently encounter a giant Heatmor that resists Pikachu's attacks, requiring them to evade it. Later, Axew is poisoned by a Foongus's Mushroom Spore attack. This injury forces the group to seek medical help at an old Pokémon Center, which they quickly realize is operating without legal authorization.
