Pokémon Base, a popular sport in the Alolan Islands featuring human and Pokémon players, draws Ash and his friends as avid fans. Professor Kukui, Principal Oak, and star player Olu'olu judge a match between Ash’s team and Kiawe’s group. After Team Rocket’s Meowth is hit by Lana’s home run, Jessie, who admires Olu'olu, challenges the students to a game for his autograph. The contest features Ash, Pikachu, Rockruff, Kiawe, Olu'olu, and his Snorlax against James, Mareanie, Jessie, Wobbuffet, Mimikkyu, and Meowth.
