Ep. 2: Alain and Mairin join Steven and Lysandre to investigate the Giant Rock on Mt. Pyre.
Alain and Mairin arrive in Hoenn and challenge Steven Stone to a Mega Evolution battle featuring Metagross and Charizard X. Their fight is interrupted by Lysandre, Alain’s boss, who reveals a past deal involving a Charizardite. The group ascends Mt. Pyre, where Steven and Lysandre combine wooden tablets to reveal a stairway to the Giant Rock. Upon activating the site, a crystal appears, but Lysandre’s team researches the rock, causing the sky to darken and Rayquaza to Mega Evolve into Mega Rayquaza. The enraged dragon awakens Groudon and Kyogre, destroying the ruins and injuring Alain. After Mega Charizard X and Mega Metagross fail to stop Rayquaza, it flies away. Lysandre orders Alain and Mairin to investigate Rustboro City with Steven, secretly instructing Alain to stay close to the Champion for his valuable knowledge.
