The Kalos League tournament officially starts in Lumiose City, featuring competitors Ash, Sawyer, Tierno, Trevor, and Alain. Returning participants from Mega Evolution Act I, Astrid and Remo, also join the fray. The opening match pits Alain against Trevor, resulting in a clash between their Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. Meanwhile, Ash prepares for his own scheduled battle when an unexpected trainer interrupts to challenge him directly.
