The group reunites with Sawyer and his Grovyle, but the meeting is interrupted by Team Flare, a group in red clothing and unusual eyewear seeking Squishy as one of the Cores for Operation Z. Ash and Sawyer fight off the attackers, who retreat to regroup. Meanwhile, Team Rocket observes the situation. Sawyer proposes detouring to Terminus Cave, a suggestion Squishy enthusiastically supports, setting the heroes' next destination.
