A stranger named Han Xin is mocked by a bully, yet Zifang views him as a coward. The bully attacks with a sword but is struck in the face by a shoe thrown by an unseen person. The crowd scatters, and Zifang greets Chu Nangong, an elder recognized by Ziming as allied with the Qin forces. Chu Nangong reveals he threw the shoe not to protect Han Xin, whom he deems dangerous, but to prevent the bully's death. He demonstrates sharp observational skills and character judgment. Zifang tasks Ziming with retrieving the shoe, a task that proves difficult. Before departing, Chu Nangong offers cryptic wisdom to Ziyu and predicts that the three remaining Chu families will defeat the Qin.
