Lan and Chaud travel to Netopia to examine a strange virus disturbance near a research center. They encounter holographic visions of the past and real-world attacks from viruses thought to be extinct. MegaMan and ProtoMan are targeted but saved by a NetNavi named Colonel. Following the event, Chaud obtains the Crest of Duo. He chooses to remain in Netopia to continue his investigation, while Lan decides to return home.
