Rumors circulate at school regarding Nanami's relocation to Sakura Dormitory. Rita, Mashiro's English roommate, arrives to return her to England for painting, but Mashiro rejects the offer. Sorata allows Rita to stay, leading her to occupy his room. Ryuunosuke makes his first appearance by attending class for attendance purposes. The group prepares for the cultural festival. Mashiro demands Rita leave Sorata's room, agreeing only if Sorata goes on a date with her. During this date, Rita reveals a painting created by Mashiro before moving to Japan. The work's profound beauty convinces Sorata that Mashiro must resume her artistic career.
