Yagi finds Ichi drinking and recounts the Saegusa family history involving Seinoshin and the servant Yaichi. He suggests the family orchestrated Seinoshin’s kidnapping and silenced Yaichi by throwing him down a well. Ichi recalls his own childhood kidnapping ordered by his family. On a bridge, Jin accuses Ichi of murdering a gang member and denies Yaichi’s involvement in the kidnapping. The two fight with knives, resulting in Ichi killing Jin. Ichi later visits Yaichi’s grave to apologize for his past blame. Masa discovers him there the next morning. The Five Leaves notice a shift in Ichi’s demeanor, and Masa becomes more convinced that Ichi requires his protection.
