Ep. 2: Nozomu visits hikikomori Kiri with Kafuka, then faces Matoi's obsessive affection after a failed suicide pact

Nozomu confides in Ms. Arai and visits Kiri Komori, a student who has stopped attending school. He is joined by Kafuka, whose attitude complicates their attempt to help Kiri return to normalcy. Although Kiri eventually goes to school, she chooses to remain a hikikomori within the school environment. The following day, Nozomu learns that another student, Matoi Tsunetsuki, is also absent. Ms. Arai explains Matoi’s obsessive stalker tendencies to him. That night, Nozomu tries to dissuade Matoi from harassing her former boyfriend. He employs a strategy involving suicide as the ultimate expression of love, claiming he will kill himself if she wishes. This approach backfires completely, causing Matoi to view Nozomu as her new object of affection.
