Ep. 2: Rei Fukai pilots the prototype Mave against suspected JAM infiltration threats.
Following a previous mission, Rei Fukai remains catatonic until he responds to the Yukikaze AI, now housed in the prototype FRX-00 Mave. This crewed variant of the FRX-99 features a countermeasure system designed to detect JAM computer infiltrations. During a test flight, the Mave strafes a FAF tactical airfield, which it incorrectly identifies as a JAM entity. Combined with other suspected sabotage acts on FAF aircraft, these events alarm officials like Brigadier General Cooley regarding potential JAM infiltrations. Consequently, Cooley assigns Rei to the prototype Mave under the observation of Edith Foss. This arrangement provides Foss with the opportunity to profile both Rei and Yukikaze in actual combat situations, testing their capabilities against the perceived threat.
