Lieutenant Fukai pilots Yukikaze against JAM threats and the Grey Sylph duplicate
Aug 25, 2022The Fairy Air Force assigns Lt. Rei Fukai the strategic reconnaissance aircraft Yukikaze, equipped with an AI, to monitor JAM movements after their defeat on Fairy. After a conflict with a JAM duplicate known as the Grey Sylph, Fukai is captured by clones seeking to study the plane. He kills a captor and escapes from an alien entity disguised as a forward airbase, only to be shot down by the Grey Sylph. As the duplicate attacks the wreckage, the Yukikaze AI hijacks a prototype FRX-99 UCAV undergoing tests. The AI uses this new platform to destroy the Grey Sylph, uploads its data to the FRX-99, ejects Fukai, and destroys the remains of the Yukikaze.

Rei Fukai pilots the prototype Mave against suspected JAM infiltration threats.
Feb 25, 2003Following a previous mission, Rei Fukai remains catatonic until he responds to the Yukikaze AI, now housed in the prototype FRX-00 Mave. This crewed variant of the FRX-99 features a countermeasure system designed to detect JAM computer infiltrations. During a test flight, the Mave strafes a FAF tactical airfield, which it incorrectly identifies as a JAM entity. Combined with other suspected sabotage acts on FAF aircraft, these events alarm officials like Brigadier General Cooley regarding potential JAM infiltrations. Consequently, Cooley assigns Rei to the prototype Mave under the observation of Edith Foss. This arrangement provides Foss with the opportunity to profile both Rei and Yukikaze in actual combat situations, testing their capabilities against the perceived threat.

Rei and a Fairy Air Force crewmember investigate a Banshee aircraft carrier linked to JAM cloning operations.
Aug 22, 2003Rei and a Fairy Air Force crewmember investigate a Banshee flying aircraft carrier that previously fired on friendly forces. Inspection of the seemingly deserted vessel reveals it is being used by JAM to create human clones. When their discovery triggers the FAF's automated command system to launch an SRBM to destroy the Banshee, Rei manages to escape. However, his companion, upon realizing he is a JAM clone, chooses to remain aboard the doomed air fortress.

Rei and Yukikaze return to Earth for engine tests while JAM forces pursue them through the portal.
Apr 23, 2004Rei and Yukikaze fly back to Earth to test the plane's new engines but JAM forces follow them out of the portal. An Earth-borne Japanese Navy aircraft carrier battlegroup, mistaking the JAM attackers for unauthorized FAF aircraft, is taken by surprise and quickly fall into disarray. The Admiral56, the Japanese flagship, is only saved from a final ramming attempt by the aliens by Rei's timely intervention. The Yukikaze is forced to land on the Admiral56 for refueling, and it is right there Rei would find out how ignorant Earth has become to the war raging on Fairy.

FAF executes a trap to lure JAM infiltrators while evacuating forces from Fairy.
Aug 26, 2005Believing planet Fairy is the JAM collective and that infiltrators are preparing a mutiny, the FAF plans to trap the enemies and withdraw remaining troops. JAM responds by positioning its entire military between the FAF and their escape portal, while hijacking FAF UCAVs to disrupt their formations. Determined to avenge repeated hacking attempts on the Yukikaze AI, Rei Fukai and the AI undertake a final mission to escort nuclear weapons into the JAM core. This action provides the necessary opening for the FAF to retreat, with Rei and the AI appearing to sacrifice themselves during the operation.
