At Kurata, Tarō and Makoto encounter Sanae Oogami, who is Makoto's mother. Makoto attempts to kill her but fails. Tarō identifies Sanae's lover, Masato, as the Snark. In a separate event, Masayuki discovers spirits within a biotech research facility during an O.B.E. He observes his father speaking with Reika regarding her research. Shortly after, Masayuki is attacked by spirit monsters referred to as hopeful monsters. These creatures are unleashed by Reika's biotech laboratory assistant near her laboratory. The episode details these conflicting encounters involving family members and supernatural entities within the facility.
