However, a coordinated ambush by Sid, Naigus, and Azusa creates an opening for Black Star to escape the engagement. Following the battle, Black Star returns to Maka and presents her with a piece of candy that Mifune had given him for consolation.

Later, while researching in the library, Kid finds that the sole book about Eibon was checked out on the day Asura was revived. He deduces that Medusa was responsible for borrowing the text, linking her to the ongoing mystery surrounding the wizard and the train's origins.

To remain Excalibur's master, Hiro completes 1000 requests issued by the sword. However, he ultimately discards Excalibur and returns to his previous life because he cannot tolerate the weapon's annoying sneeze.
