In the current world line, Moeka works as an editorial writer and is hired by Daru to assist in locating Kagari, discovering that another group is also searching for her. Rintaro receives a call from Maho regarding a potential kidnapper, but it turns out to be Judy Reyes, a fellow scientist. Maho observes that Rintaro has been ignoring calls from Amadeus Kurisu and suggests he abandon his testing role. Later, Luka brings an amnesiac girl to the lab, holding only a rusted Upa toy as a clue. When Mayuri and Suzuha arrive, the girl collapses upon seeing Mayuri, and Suzuha identifies her as Kagari.
