Ep. 3: Okabe discovers the microwave is a time machine after a lab explosion and text rerouting incident.
Aired on April 20, 2011

Okabe allows Kurisu to examine the microwave only if she joins the lab. Following an experimental explosion, they realize Daru had connected his phone to the device when Okabe sent a message regarding Kurisu's stabbing. This revelation leads Okabe to conclude the microwave functions as a time machine that redirected his text into the past, causing Kurisu to flee in shock. Inspired by discussions about the Large Hadron Collider and micro black holes, Okabe tasks Daru with infiltrating SERN's network. Online user Titor elaborates on theories concerning SERN's creation of a dystopian future. Upon accessing SERN's emails, Okabe and Daru uncover evidence of top-secret micro black hole experiments that resulted in multiple human fatalities.
