Fortune teller Choi Mochimazzwi from Dera’s homeland stays at Tamako’s house, revealing their shared royal island lineage. Annoyed by Dera’s weight gain and failure to find a bride for the prince, Choi feigns captivity, causing distrust toward Tamako and the shopkeepers. While Choi pays back kindness by telling fortunes, Sayuri Yumoto announces her marriage, upsetting tofu shop owner Tomio Shimizu, who loved her. This triggers Choi’s reflection on her own unrequited feelings for the prince, resulting in a fever after fainting in the bath. Tamako helps Choi overcome some homesickness, making her more accepting of their kindness. Choi decides to stay until she fixes Dera’s communication system, but notices a peculiar scent coming from Tamako.
