Tamako Market

Tamako is a high school freshman with extensive knowledge of mochi, a traditional Japanese confection. She helps run Tama-ya, her family’s mochi shop, and enjoys creating new flavors in her free time. Adjusting to school and adolescence proves challenging, but she relies on her close friends Kanna and Midori, whose families also own shops in the same commercial area. Tamako tries to balance her personal life with the complexities of her friendship with Mochizou, a boy whose family operates a competing mochi shop. Midori has also begun to experience confusing emotions toward Tamako. A mysterious bird that speaks fluent Japanese adds to the intrigue. Despite the uncertainties, Tamako finds comfort in the familiar: a sweet treat from her family’s shop always awaits after a day of navigating life’s ups and downs.
