Obstacles test the group until Saburōmaru causes a bridge collapse, separating Kinta and Kazuma from Kyu and Megu. While swept away, Kyu and Megu encounter a man with a broken leg who claims to need help. Kyu initially suspects a trap designed to stall examinees and leaves him behind. However, hearing a dam siren, Kyu returns to assist the man, who urges him to persist. Kyu reaches the exam hall with ten minutes remaining and requests to take the test. He solves only one question but is admitted to DDS because Dan reveals it was an exceptionally difficult case, solved by only one other person previously.
