Ep. 10: Teiichi witnesses Yuko's tragic past involving a plague, a sacrifice, and her peaceful death.

Teiichi observes Yuko’s life sixty years ago, where she cared for Asa while living with her sister Yukariko Kanoe, Kirie’s grandmother. Amidst a plague that killed many townsfolk, Yuko believed things would improve. However, sick elders planned to sacrifice a child to appease gods angered by a school built over a shrine. Yuko and Yukariko hid Asa, but the girl was kidnapped while the sisters bathed. Yuko rushed to the school to rescue her. Asa, forced to play Akahito to select a victim, unknowingly chose Yuko. Elders threw Yuko into an underground shrine, sealing the entrance. Bleeding from a broken leg and ignored, Yuko died peacefully without blaming anyone, relieved that Asa and Yukariko were safe. This event created Yuko’s shadow, who hates her for not assigning blame and became a ghost with no memories.
