Ep. 2: Lag steals Gauche's Shindanjuu to reach the capital, leading to a Gaichuu Bucker encounter.

Lag, Gauche, and Roda continue their journey. Lag warms to Gauche and Roda but remains intent on finding his mother, asking Gauche to bring him to Akatsuki if he becomes Head Bee. Gauche refuses, sticking to his duty as Letter Bee. Upset, Lag steals Gauche's Shindanjuu while he sleeps to head for the capital but gets lost and falls into a sand trap set by a Gaichuu Bucker. Gauche arrives to save Lag, shooting the Gaichuu but missing due to distance. They prepare for another shot, and Lag reveals a spirit amber in his left eye, which strengthens the Shindanjuu to destroy the Gaichuu. Lag carries an injured Gauche to town. Three days pass, and Gauche struggles to get supplies as townspeople are wary of outsiders. Lag brings food and water before they leave. They share a touching moment as Gauche finally treats Lag as a friend. Lag bids farewell, shouting he will become a Letter Bee like Gauche someday. Five years later, Lag prepares to embark on his promise.
