Shizuku Mizutani visits Haru Yoshida, who is skipping school after serving a suspension for fighting. Haru declares them friends, prompting teacher Saeko to pressure Shizuku into persuading him to return to avoid expulsion. Haru’s punk associates exploit his kindness for money, but Shizuku exposes their deceit. Haru confesses his love and returns to school, where his misunderstanding of social norms leads to strange behavior. He asks Shizuku to a monjayaki restaurant, but she declines due to studies. After Haru solves a math problem, Shizuku recalls he was previously the top student. She views him as a rival, studies intensely, and ranks first in the midterms. Finally, she agrees to the restaurant date. During the outing, Haru casually kisses her, leaving Shizuku stunned.
