Applicants arrive at an undisclosed location to view footage of astronauts who died from chute failure during reentry. This display tests their willingness to continue the examination process. After all candidates agree to proceed, the group is divided into three teams. Each team must spend two weeks together in a sealed environment to determine which two members are best suited for astronaut duties. Mutta is assigned to a team alongside Serika, Reiji Nitta, Naoto Fukuda, and Yasushi Furuya. Their first task requires them to calculate the current time, a challenge in which Mutta provides a surprisingly precise answer.
