Spiritualist Himiko investigates a vampire rumor while treating a possessed girl in Kyoto.
Jul 21, 1988Spiritualist Himiko Se travels to Kyoto to treat Aiko, a wealthy girl in a coma for sixty days. After diagnosing possession, Himiko encounters rumors of a vampire who killed five people, confirmed by Miyahito after witnessing his girlfriend's murder. Himiko is attacked by the vampire but saved by Miyu, a young vampire girl who warns her to stay away. Himiko discovers Aiko’s parents died donating blood to save her, leading to Aiko’s claim of being a vampire. Miyu reveals Aiko is possessed by the shinma Raen, who deceived her into believing she was a vampire. Miyu banishes Raen, killing Aiko, and notes that Aiko might have survived with her blood. Himiko vows to find Miyu again while Miyahito remains in a trance.

Simultaneously, Himiko investigates her missing classmate, suspecting shinma involvement after the girl turns into a doll. Miyu, a vampire bound to Larva, confronts the pair in a cathedral. She reveals her duty to banish shinma and notes her blood bond with Larva. Although Ranka transforms Kei into a doll-like shinma, she refuses to kill him because she loves him as a person, just as he loves her. Witnessing their mutual devotion, Miyu banishes both into the darkness. Himiko observes that while Miyu won the battle, she lost the confrontation because Kei chose Ranka’s love over Himiko’s.

Miyu and Himiko confront an armored samurai while rescuing Larva from shinma captors.
Dec 21, 1988Miyu enlists Himiko to rescue Larva, a shinma who kidnapped him, in exchange for information. Himiko battles an armored samurai soul using a ritual spell. Miyu reveals Larva became her first blood source after biting him, leading to his punishment by other shinma who sealed his face and voice. Himiko searches for the samurai but is captured by a shinma named Lemures, who opposes Miyu having Larva. Miyu frees Himiko but is taken by the armored samurai. Larva breaks free to save Miyu, who then burns Lemures as punishment. Miyu discloses to the samurai that he was once human and sacrificed his wife for armor. Distraught, he raids the town and is killed by police. When Himiko questions why Miyu did not let the samurai believe he was a shinma, Miyu explains she cannot allow others to forget their humanity because she cannot do so herself.

Himiko visits Kamakura to investigate a dream involving Miyu and her frozen vampire parents.
Apr 1, 1989Himiko returns to Kamakura to verify a childhood dream, finding her old home replaced by a strange, frozen scene with her parents. Miyu appears, revealing her past: she turned thirteen, developed a blood craving, and killed a classmate before learning her mother is a guardian shinma and her father an immortal human. After rejecting her vampire nature and fleeing with her mother, they were captured by shinmas. Her parents were sealed as punishment, while Miyu was granted immortality and eternal youth to hunt rogue shinmas over centuries. Exhausted and dying of thirst, Miyu drank her mother’s blood, causing her collapse. After Miyu vanishes, Himiko recalls seeing Miyu at age five, looking identical to her current appearance.
