Vampire Noé Archiviste travels to Paris aboard an airship powered by arsmite to investigate The Book of Vanitas for his teacher. He encounters Amelia Ruth, who is revealed to be a vampire. Overcome by bloodlust, she bites him, poisoning his blood. Vanitas enters and uses The Book of Vanitas to reveal her true name, Florifel, which restores her sanity. Vanitas explains that the grimoire removes the corruption causing vampires to become curse-bearers. Later in Paris, Vanitas invites Noé to join his quest. Noé refuses and subsequently collapses on the street. This event highlights the grimoire's power to cure the malady affecting vampire names and prevent berserk behavior among the cursed.
