Senior students at Soubu High debate choosing Liberal Arts, but attention shifts to rumors linking Yukino and Hayato. Yumiko visits the Service Club, tearfully expressing fear of drifting from Hayato because he withheld his future plans. Hachiman attempts to confront Hayato directly and indirectly through Haruno, who arrives to assist the Student Council. Hachiman then exploits the stress of the Annual Winter Event Marathon Race to manipulate Hayato into selecting Sciences. This backfires, triggering Hayato’s inferiority complex and causing him to choose the opposite. Hayato wins the marathon, dispelling rumors by thanking Yumiko and Isshiki, and apologizes to Yukino at the after-party. He later explains to Hachiman that hiding his choice protected his pride from peer influence.
