Ep. 3: Toshiharu's family returns to his grandparents' rural home for a ritual to ward off a negative emotion-eating ghost.

Toshiharu and his parents relocate to his maternal grandparents' countryside residence. While Toshiharu waits outside, his grandfather briefs the main family on the "Calm Through Laughter" ritual, which requires adults to remain indoors and feign joy throughout the night to deter an evil ghost descended from Toshiharu's great-great grandfather that feeds on negative emotions. Later, Toshiharu wakes to use the bathroom and observes the adults through a window, discovering they are wearing grotesque smiling masks. As he retreats in terror, the garden door slides open, and the group watches in horror as a figure emerges from the shadows and lunges toward them.
