Jigoro criticizes Yawara’s lack of dedication due to having no worthy rival. A Bentley driven by Sayaka Honami, a wealthy sports superstar bored with mastery of tennis, riding, skiing, gymnastics, swimming, fencing, and figure skating, nearly hits them. After Jigoro easily defeats Sayaka’s bodyguard Kamata, a 5th dan judoka, Sayaka decides to pursue judo. Jigoro refuses to train her, claiming another girl is stronger. Sayaka trains for a month and visits the Inokuma residence, where Yawara casually throws her, causing Sayaka’s false tooth to fall out. Realizing Yawara is the strong girl, Sayaka vows to defeat her. Later, at a festival, Yawara saves Sayaka, who is wearing a 3.5 million yen kimono, from a knife-wielding pervert but allows Sayaka to take the media credit. Insulted by this, Sayaka redoubles her efforts to surpass Yawara.
