Meanwhile, Hanazono leads the struggling Musashiyama high school judo club, which faces Ganryuji high school. To boost morale, Jigoro orchestrates a plan where Yawara is kidnapped and forced to deliver uniforms. Hanazono, unaware of her skills, conscripts her as a temporary member for an upcoming elimination-style practice match. Yawara reluctantly participates, worried about missing a sale with friends. The rival Ganryuji team accepts the format change, hoping to wrestle a girl. This arrangement forces Yawara into the ring despite her lack of interest in judo, creating tension between her personal plans and the club's desperate need for a competitor against their belittling rivals.
