Following Jody's defeat, she collapses from injury and exhaustion, prompting Yawara to condemn Teleshikova's tactics as unsportsmanlike. Jigoro notes that Teleshikova concealed her finishing throw, while Jody informs her fiancé that their wedding must be delayed until her leg heals. Matsuda limps into the arena to retrieve Kojiro's letter from Kuniko, intending to give it to Yawara. Kuniko attempts to hand over the fan letter, but Yawara ignores her, focusing intensely on the upcoming match. Energized by revenge, Yawara scores two quick yukos against Teleshikova using different moves. However, Jigoro warns that this aggressive style may lead to defeat. Matsuda finally opens Kojiro's letter, which warns Yawara to watch for Teleshikova's uranage, but it arrives too late to prevent Yawara from being thrown by that very move.
