Ep. 52: Yawara battles Teleshikova’s relentless attacks while recovering from a near knockout.
Aired on December 17, 1990

52
Teleshikova’s uranage against Yawara is ruled a waza ari because it landed partially out of bounds, sparing Yawara from an ippon defeat. Yawara remains on the mat, possibly unconscious, and recalls throwing Kojiro at age 5 before waking to Matsuda’s shouts. Teleshikova continues with relentless leg sweeps, prompting Jigoro’s anger that Yawara fights for revenge rather than strategy. Jody escapes transport to cheer, leading Teleshikova to score two yuko throws. Yawara responds with a waza ari after seeing Jody, who then collapses and is carried out on a stretcher. Enraged by Yawara’s conduct, Jigoro attempts to stop the match to avoid winning gold in a shameful manner, but Yamashita intervenes to prevent him.
