The protagonist joins a university film club as a freshman, motivated by friendship and the creative process. However, he faces harsh treatment and has his proposals rejected by the club president, Jogasaki, who is in his eighth year. With support from Ozu, he spends the following two years producing films independently. This effort culminates in a documentary that reveals the negative traits of Jogasaki. During this time, he develops a connection with Akashi, the only club member who shows genuine interest in his work. After secretly screening the exposé within the group, Akashi expresses dissatisfaction with the film and subsequently departs from the circle.
