Ep. 3: Former cyclist joins Akashi's Birdman contest plane project after losing his bike
A freshman joins the Soleil cycling club to find a girlfriend but quits due to physical weakness, though he continues saving for a better bicycle. After his new bike is stolen, he falls into depression until Akashi, a former club member, recruits him to pilot a human-powered aircraft for the Birdman contest over Lake Biwa. He trains intensely to improve his pedaling skills for the competition. However, his improved physique disqualifies him from the pilot role, causing him to leave. He later encounters Ozu stealing the plane on a cart that slips toward a pond. Attempting to pedal the craft to safety, he realizes it lacks pedals as it is designed for free-flying. Depressed over his wasted efforts, he sinks into the water along with the aircraft.
