Midosuji overtakes Onoda’s group, prompting Toudou to dispatch Manami to delay him. Manami recognizes he cannot stop Midosuji alone and challenges him to a one-on-one mountain race. They agree that the loser must not cross the finish line before the winner. Meanwhile, Makashima determines that Imazumi faces a significant disadvantage without support. Since Onoda has successfully kept pace with Makashima, he is sent forward to help balance the competition against the remaining climbers.
